Women Owned Businesses We Love in Tucson

As a successful, women-owned IT and tech company in Tucson, we love to support other women business owners who are crushing it! Here’s a brief (non-exhaustive!) list of women-owned Tucson businesses that we love and support:

Anita Street Market

Located at 849 N Anita Ave. just south of Speedway Blvd. is Anita Street Market, an unfussy Mexican eatery known for delectable handmade tortillas. Look for a colorful mural on the side of the building, which features an array of Tucson landmarks and cultural icons. Inside you’ll find fresh Sonoran Mexican food along with a small market loaded with delicious baked goods. Anita Street Market has been a family-owned business for more than 30 years with owner Gracie Soto at the helm, carrying on her family’s longstanding traditions.

Antigone Books

Antigone Books has been located at 411 N 4th Ave. in Tucson since 1973! It is an independent bookstore that is employee-owned by three women: Kate, Morgan, and Melissa. The store is named after the Greek mythological character, Antigone, who stood her ground against male authority figures. Antigone Books is solar-powered and carries a wide variety of genres of books for adults, teens, and kids. They also carry a huge selection of unique and quirky gifts and host events like book and poetry readings.

Body Works Pilates

Body Works Pilates is located at 1980 E River Rd., #250, in St. Philip’s Plaza. Established in 1993, Body Works Pilates is the international headquarters for Fletcher Pilates. Its owner and director, Kyria Sabin, has been mastering the art of Pilates since 1991 and she now directs not only Tucson’s Body Works Pilates, but also other affiliate campuses around the world! Body Works offers private sessions, duet sessions, COREtet sessions, group classes, and on-demand classes online.

Green Things Nursery

Green Things Nursery is located at 3384 E River Rd. and has been a family-operated retail and wholesale plant nursery since 1970. Since 2004, it has been owned by Jan Westenborg. The 13-acre nursery and garden center houses 30 greenhouses and thousands of cacti, shrubs, houseplants, trees, annuals, perennials and dry goods like soil, pottery, decorative garden accents, and more.

JayBees Auto Service

JayBees Auto Service, located at 5070 E 22nd St., offers automotive repairs for foreign and domestic vehicles. It has been in business since 1987 and has a stellar reputation in Tucson for experienced, qualified technicians and exceptional customer service. JayBees’ owner, Jacqui Harry, has long been a supporter of ethical business ownership and locally owned businesses. The auto shop specializes in scheduled maintenance, general repairs, tire services, assistance with state inspections, and other routine automotive services.

Renee’s Tucson

Renee’s Tucson, at 7065 E Tanque Verde Rd., serves a diverse menu of organic dishes, including gluten-free pizza and vegan food. Owned by Renee Kreager, the menu features Italian classics with a unique twist.  With over 15 years in business, many of the menu staples have become customer-favorites and feature locally sourced, fresh ingredients from around Arizona. In 2018, Renee’s was featured on the Food Network show, Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, and so many customers started pouring in that Renee had to add patio seating to accommodate the rise in visitors.
