#InspireInclusion Spotlight - Shaima Namazifard

Exemplary leadership and a steadfast commitment to community are essential attributes that define success. Shaima Namazifard, Vice President of Business Services at Tucson Federal Credit Union (TCFU), exemplifies these qualities. With over thirteen years of experience in banking and a focus on commercial lending, Shaima's career is marked by resilience, empowerment, and a steadfast dedication to elevating others.

A Journey Rooted in Growth and Leadership

Shaima Namazifard’s story begins with her roots in Iran, though she considers herself a native Tucsonan, having moved to the United States at a young age. Her academic path reflects her diverse expertise—she holds a bachelor's degree in Science, Health, and Technology from the University of Arizona, an MBA in Global Management from the University of Phoenix, and a specialized credit training certification from Omega. These foundations laid the groundwork for her success in the financial sector, where she now excels in guiding businesses through lending solutions, including SBA 7a and 504 loan programs.

Her professional achievements speak volumes. Recognized as one of BizTucson’s Next Generation Leaders in 2022 and a 40 Under 40 honoree by the Southern Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in 2018, Shaima’s impact extends far beyond her role at TFCU. She has also been a Pinnacle Award winner, highlighting her excellence in business services.

The Power of Mentorship and Community Involvement

Shaima’s career trajectory has been significantly shaped by the mentorship of strong women. Reflecting on her journey, she acknowledges the pivotal role that female mentors played in guiding her from retail banking into commercial lending. She credits professionals like Stephanie Gillmore and Maureen Dallago for opening doors, as well as other mentors who helped her refine critical skills in leadership and client relations.

Inspired by these experiences, Shaima has made it her mission to pay it forward. She serves as a professor of Business Communications at Catholic University, where she nurtures the next generation of business leaders. Beyond the classroom, she is deeply involved in numerous organizations, including serving on the Board of Directors for Sun Corridor, the Tucson Hispanic Chamber, the Southern Arizona YMCA, and the Southern Arizona Land Trust, among others. Her leadership extends to advocacy and fundraising, where she has successfully championed causes for the Lupus Foundation of Southern Arizona, El Rio Health Foundation El Rio Vecinos, the Women’s Foundation of Southern Arizona, and Commercial Real Estate for Women.

Advocating for Women in Business

Shaima is a firm believer in fostering inclusive leadership. She emphasizes the importance of advocating for women in industries where they often face barriers to entry. She encourages young professionals to embrace mentorship, take risks, and recognize their transferable skills—qualities she believes are essential for breaking through traditional limitations.

She also highlights the need for businesses and organizations to create genuinely inclusive environments. "Hiring diverse talent isn't just about checking a box," she states. "It’s about truly listening to different perspectives and allowing them to shape the future of your organization."

Creating Opportunities for the Next Generation

For Shaima, leadership is about more than personal success—it’s about lifting others as you climb. She actively mentors aspiring professionals, offering internships at TFCU and encouraging young women to explore opportunities in finance, technology, and business. She passionately believes that success is not a solo journey; rather, it is a shared experience where collective empowerment leads to meaningful progress.

Shaima is passionate about empowering others to improve themselves and leads by example. Currently, she is in the final stages of earning her CCIM designation while also pursuing her diploma and certification from the Western CU Management School. Her message to future leaders is clear: "Say yes to opportunities, even when they challenge you. Be open to learning, seek mentors who inspire you, and, when the time comes, become that mentor for someone else."

A Legacy of Impact

Shaima Namazifard’s journey is a testament to the power of resilience, mentorship, and service. Her commitment to fostering financial literacy, empowering women in business, and building strong community ties positions her as a trailblazer in the industry. Whether through her role at Tucson Federal Credit Union, her academic contributions, or her community engagement, Shaima continues to shape a future where leadership is synonymous with opportunity and inclusion.

Shaima’s story serves as a powerful reminder that success is best measured by the impact we have on others.
